Monday Work Mood

Monday.

Start of the work week, and I used to hate it. Not anymore. I am back to the groove where I have more control of my time.

There is more time to research, to brainstorm, and most of all to think.

I am no longer shackled by dos-and-don'ts. My father after all warned me of a regimented life. It didn't work for me then, and I guess, it won't ever work for me. He knows me really well.

See the antique Singer sewing machine pictured above? The machine is older than me. I remember my Lola Petra commissioning someone to sew dresses for me and my cousins when we were little. My mother, who is also into sewing, then took over the dressmaking chores for us. I grew up in beautiful sewn short dresses. And I would go to Sunday masses in Sunday's best! The practice just got broken when I went to and came home from UP-D where I imbibed the (super) casual dressing.

The Singer, though a reliable brand for sewing machines, has stood the test of time. I don't know how many times it had broken down, or when it exactly stopped working. But to my mind, it kept on working and working efficiently because it knows its purpose. It is focused on working for its sole purpose, which is to sew.

What are you good at?

To be really effective at what you do, you have to focus. Focus on the one thing that you are good at.

Multi-tasking is just a modern word for the old saying, "jack of all trades, master of none."
