Gardening is Love!

One of the household chores that I'd love to do if given the chance is gardening. The other one is cooking. But being a working mom, I don't get to do both, or either one of them. So, I rely on my househelp to do this.

On occasions that I get to do gardening, I'd feel happy. I love being with the flowers and plants. I enjoy watering them and seeing them looking fresh and new afterwards. One thing I learned from my mother about watering the plants is to also sprinkle the leaves and flowers with water using the hands. Talking to them is another thing, too.

Many of our plants at home are leafy ones. For flowering plants, we have a few orchids, hibiscus, and euphorbia in yellow, violet, and white. Some of these plants are gifts from friends. I wish I could have more flowering plants, but buying plants has become a luxury for me lately.

In any case, I started reading up on patio gardening. We don't have a back or front yard with soil. What we have is a patio. So, here are patio/balcony/porch gardening tips that are useful for me (and perhaps for you, too):
  • Know how much light you have available.
  • Choose your containers wisely.
  • Make sure you have good dirt.
  • Know that your new plants will need water.
  • Pick vegetables that fit your climate and your tastes.

Blame it to midlife, but I have been craving to go into full-time gardening lately! LOL...

  5. Belated happy birthday! Life definitely has so many surprises. There are two things that i am still trying to learn from my Thai friends, these are to be calm and patient amidst turmoil of any kind.
