Channeling Those Teenage Hormones Into Something Useful this Summer

Gabo's first basketball camp at Archers Basketball Camp
The training coach was Pocholo Villanueva, UAAP 2007 MVP, PBA Burger King.

Here's a list of things your teeners can do this summer.

  1. Sports clinics or camps (swimming, volleyball, basketball, tennis, badminton, etc.). This year, Rago is enrolled in a Volleyball camp at Immaculate Heart of Mary College Paranaque with a coach from the NU Volleyball training squad, while Gabo will be joining a Basketball league in the baranggay. He's been doing that every summer for the past 10 years! During their younger years, they had swimming (by Lozada Swimming School) and badminton and tennis (by Wizheart & I) lessons. Ha ha!
  2. Martial Arts. This is good for self-defense and discipline, too.
  3. Music lessons. Yes, Gabo did guitar lessons and now he can play the guitar. Though he got most of his polishing from jamming with friends. Oh, I miss jamming!
  4. Art lessons. Yes, this is a good way to develop and nurture their creativity.
  5. Computer classes (Word, Excel, PPT, video making, video editing, etc.). Computer skills will be a plus in their school projects. If anyone is interested in this, let me know.
  6. Have a vacation at folks' place to learn the local language. In our case, they can learn Cebuano and Hiligaynon or Kinaray-a. In fact, the plan is to let the elder son stay in Iloilo for a while since his school won't start till August.
  7. Book reading challenge. They have yet to pick this up! This is also a challenge for me, actually. ha ha!
  8. Summer job. I am thinking of McDonald's or Starbucks for the elder one, at least. But I am not sure if they accept 16-year-olds. Would you know?
What other activities can you think of for teenagers this summer?
