On Patience and Process

Lao Tzu says, "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."

It suggests that patience and trusting the natural process can lead to fulfilling results… just like what’s happening with this bougainvillea.

I got branches of white bougainvilleas last May when we stayed overnight in Tirta Spring Villa. As the lady caretaker advised, I must put the branches first in water and after a day, plant them in a pot. I planted the branches in 2 pots. 2 branches in each pot. After a day or two, the old leaves and flowers started to dry and fall off. What was left were the twigs, empty and seemingly lonely.

One morning, I saw that the twigs were swimming in water.

I told the hubs, who waters the plants every morning, to pour just the right amount of water, and if he sees that the soil is still damp, he can skip watering.

So I waited for the twigs to bloom again, and every chance I got, I would talk to them, “Hello, beautiful! I am excited to see your blooms!” Yes, I do! Ha ha!

For weeks and months, nothing seems to be happening. But still, I waited and was hopeful.

And voila! This morning, I saw beautiful, tiny white bougainvillea flowers growing out of the twigs!

I am giddy!!!

It’s the same with everything else in life. Your wish will come true… one day. As long as you keep at it. Put on the right effort, the right amount of attention and focus, and love and care every day, and boom it will happen!
