Swallowed by the Urban Jungle

The city rises around me. 

Tall buildings, rushing cars, endless noise. Everywhere I look, someone or something is moving. It's easy to disappear in a place like this. Everyone is busy. No one makes eye contact. It feels like the city eats you---slowly, without even noticing. 

That's why every chance I get, I catch something real. A flower growing through a crack in the sidewalk, green leaves covering canopies, a kitten meowing in the corner. 

Those moments remind me that not everything is lost. Even in this jungle of buildings and noise, something simple and human can survive.
