I found a good nook to do work today.
This is our unofficial lanai or patio garden. Whatever interior designers call this nook, I'm happy to discover that I can actually make this a workstation.
This Friday, happiness is to be working and be surrounded by plants; no AC or electric fan, just the wind. Not to mention, 80's music in the background with Tina Ryan on Magic 89.9 Friday Madness. Precious!
Note to self: Gotta make this nook look better.
What I'm working on today? Market analysis and website mockups. What a combo right? Ha ha!
In any case, should I make it a patio garden or a zen lanai?

One of the household chores that I'd love to do if given the chance is gardening. The other one is cooking. But being a working mom, I don't get to do both, or either one of them. So, I rely on my househelp to do this.
On occasions that I get to do gardening, I'd feel happy. I love being with the flowers and plants. I enjoy watering them and seeing them looking fresh and new afterwards. One thing I learned from my mother about watering the plants is to also sprinkle the leaves and flowers with water using the hands. Talking to them is another thing, too.
Many of our plants at home are leafy ones. For flowering plants, we have a few orchids, hibiscus, and euphorbia in yellow, violet, and white. Some of these plants are gifts from friends. I wish I could have more flowering plants, but buying plants has become a luxury for me lately.
In any case, I started reading up on patio gardening. We don't have a back or front yard with soil. What we have is a patio. So, here are patio/balcony/porch gardening tips that are useful for me (and perhaps for you, too):
- Know how much light you have available.
- Choose your containers wisely.
- Make sure you have good dirt.
- Know that your new plants will need water.
- Pick vegetables that fit your climate and your tastes.
Blame it to midlife, but I have been craving to go into full-time gardening lately! LOL...

One of my big projects this year was to go into patio gardening. Our house has no backyard or garden with soil to speak of, so patio gardening is the way to go for us. Early on, I wanted to achieve
plant grouping like this, but my schedule turned into a super busy one that I didn't have time to do it.
As usual, my mom came to the rescue, lol. She and dad came over for my late aunt. They are staying a bit longer for a much needed vacation. Mom went down to doing household chores, which she is really good at.
Look what she has achieved so far.
Now, she keeps on bugging me to get more pots, more soil, and more plants. Ha ha!
