Baking A Cake Made Easy by Betty Crocker

I used to bake damn good brownies when I was single. But since I got married and didn't have time to bake or cook, I lost the technique. Ironic? I know!

So, since I don't really bake, I rely on ready mixes. But I only got to try those in the supermarkets about once or twice because I didn't like the result. Until I found Betty Crocker in Duty Free Philippines Fiesta Mall. What draw me to it was the photo. It looks so inviting! And the price is only US$2 (or even less). I heard that in the local supermarkets, it is sold as high as Php280! For that price, I thought there was no harm in trying it out.

It was the best decision I've ever made, lol! The step is as easy as 1-2-3.

You will need:

1 1/4 cups water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs

Time to bake!

1. Heat - Heat your oven to 350 degrees F if you have a shiny metal or glass pan or 325 degrees F fir a dark or nonstick pan. Grease bottom only of a 13" by 9" pan or the bottom and sides of all other
pans.

2. Beat - In a large bow, beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occassionally. Pour into pan.

3. Bake - Bake as directed or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan (You have to follow this because if not the cake will crumble.) Cool completely before frosting.

The result is truly a super moist chocolate fudge, and it's not too sweet, too! Look at the texture of the chocolate cake below:

On New Year's eve, I baked the vanilla flavor and put kiwi on top. It was equally good!
Here's the finished product.
